Jason Kidd was actually my favorite player as a child. I will even admit that I had a fire AOL Instant Messenger screen name of JKiddDroppinDimes5. In 2014, when the Bucks named Jason Kidd as the next head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, I was ecstatic. My favorite player is now the head coach of my favorite team. Kidd was a hit during his first season, leading the Bucks to a 41-41 record and an exciting 6 game series against the Bulls in the playoffs. The 41 wins in his first season was a 26 win improvement from the previous season. With a young up and coming star in Giannis, a young promising player in Jabari and the solid Khris Middleton, the Bucks future looked bright. Kidd implemented a unique scramble style defense that had his team trapping and trying to create controlled chaos on the defensive end. The Bucks finished with a defensive rating of 4th in the league while allowing 97 points per game which was good for 8th in the league. Was Jason Kidd a genius or was his defensive schemes success not sustainable? Fast forward to the following season and the Kidd clown show begins. The scramble style defense was ranked 23rd in the league and they allowed 103 points per game which was good for 17th in the league. The Bucks finished the 2015-2016 season at 33-49 and missed the playoffs. But still, this team had Giannis who was blossoming into a star, Middleton who continued to carve out a role as a very good two way player and Jabari who scored 14 ppg on 49% shooting from the floor. The future was still bright and Cuck Kidd would surely make some adjustments going into the following season, right? Wrong actually, Kidd continued to play his same defensive scheme which has been figured out by every single team in the NBA. The Bucks did finish 42-40 and played another exciting playoff series against the Raptors which would eventually end in a game 6 loss. Once again, the team was still labeled "young" and they did show some improvements from a record stand point. The 2017-2018 season had a ton of hype and should be the year Kidd and the Bucks put it all together and take the next step towards the title they are building for. So far this season, the Bucks are 19-16 and playing the same bullshit style defense which ranks them 24th in defensive rating and 16th in points allowed at 106 ppg. The Bucks are hovering around .500 and have even added talented point guard Eric Bledsoe to the mix. Giannis is a top 5 player in the league many would argue, Brogdon is showing a ton of value as a 6th man and Khris Middleton is posting a per game average of 20/5/4. Why is this team hovering around .500? Why does it seem like they continue to make the same mistakes and lose games they should be winning? The answer lies on the head coach. Jason Kidd needs to be fired. He has not shown any improvement as a coach and his teams have not taken the next step. Kidd still uses the "we are young" excuse which is completely false. Yes, Giannis did just turn 23, but it is his 5th season in the NBA and he is already a star. Middleton is 26 years old and in his 6th NBA season, Bledsoe is 28 and in his 9th season and they have plenty other bench players who have at least 4 years in the league. The "we are young" excuse is tired and the easy way out for a coach who refuses to make adjustments. For many, they have wanted Kidd fired for the past month plus. The game on New Years Day at Toronto was a perfect example of why Jason Kidd should no longer be the head coach on the Milwaukee Bucks.
Derozan was having one of those games where it seemed like he was hitting any shot he took. However, Tony Snell, one of the teams better defenders sat the final 24 minutes of that game. Besides his defensive abilities, he is a starter and shoots 42% from three. There was absolutely no logical reason Kidd could give as to why Tony Snell sat the final 24 minutes of that game while Derozan poured in 52 points on Kidd and Cuck Boy Sweeneys face. On top of Snell sitting, Kidd opted to play 40 year old Jason Terry in the 4th quarter, having not played a single second in the previous 3 quarters. Jason Terry provides very little on the floor. He is not a good defender and he is currently shooting 14% from three this season. The final clown show act came late in the game when Middleton left his guy to trap Derozan at the top of the key. Middleton wasn't leaving Andre Roberson to go and trap Derozan, he left 39% three point shooter Kyle Lowry. It took a simple pass out the the garbage blitz defense that every single NBA player can make to give Lowry a wide open three that he knocked down. After the game, Middleton said that he messed up and shouldn't have left his guy to trap. Of course Kidd had a different attitude as he blamed a lack of rotation rather than the idiotic decision to leave Lowry wide open.
Jason Kidd really doesn't seem to have a clue. Yes, I am just Tommy Tuffnuts the sports blogger so what do I know? What I do know is that the results under Kidd the last 3+ seasons have been mediocre and for that reason, Jason Kidd needs to be fired. The biggest issue however is that will his buddies have the nuts to actually fire him? I say they ultimately do since they are businessman who need to open a new arena next season, a new arena that many people in this state did not want.
