Good afternoon folks, I'm writing this blog for people that watch sporting events in big groups. This blog is for you. After reading this you will be able to impress your friends with facts that people dont bring up enough. Lets get this thing rolling.
Ppl 4get that Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan actually played lacrosse in college.
You know that white wide receiver you see running routes for the New England Patriots on Sundays? The gritty one? The one that runs great routes and has sure hands? No, not Edelman, not Amendola, not newly acquired Jake Kumerow (ha ring U go Warhawks). Im talking about Chris Hogan. Whats so special about him? Well actually, he originally attended Penn State and played lacrosse and not football. I shit you not, former lacrosse player. The guy really played lacrosse. I believe this does not get enough attention. Pretty incredible to see the amount of success hes had in the NFL after going to college to play lacrosse.
Ppl 4get that Ryan Fitzpatrick went to college at Harvard.
The guy with the big beard. The guy thats been on 7 teams in 13 years. The guy that was once given a 1 year $12 million contract from the New York Jets (insert dumpster fire gif). Well folks, that guy actually attended Harvard University, Quarterback U as some of us in the biz like to call it. The fact he attended Harvard automatically means he has a high football IQ. Ppl 4get that Harvard is an Ivy League school. Its one of many intangibles that separates Fitzpatrick from the rest.
Ppl 4get Brandon Jennings once scored 55 points in a game.
November 14, 2009. The day that will forever be part of Milwaukee Bucks history. The day Brandon Jennings scored 55 points against the Golden State Warriors. This was easily the most impressive game in NBA history. The man scored 55 points. I dont know for sure but I think thats the most points ever scored in a NBA game. The game was so memorable that t-shirts were made to remember. But I also think this game gets overlooked. It rarely got brought up after it happened. Actually thats a lie, i think it gets brought up whenever the Warriors make a visit to Milwaukee.
Ppl 4get that Bill Hall hit a walkoff homerun on Mother's Day.
Mother's Day 2006. The first thing that should come to your mind is Bill Hall becuase "Bill Hall wins games." I think everyone remembers where they were. Ppl 4get i was actually in attendance (sick brag). The Brewers are playing the Mets and Bill Hall comes up to the dish. He hits a walkoff homerun while using a pink bat. Wanna know the best part? His mother was actually in attendance! It is incredible how much this event gets overlooked. I really wish the Brewers would show the highlight more every Mothers Day.
Ppl 4get that JJ Watt started his college career as a walk-on.
Ppl 4get this because its actually not true. Watt started his career on scholarship at Central Michigan. But thats not a fun narrative. Its more fun to talk about the pizza boy who turned into one of the best defensive players in the NFL (when he can actually stay healthy....SAWFT). But ppl like to talk about him started his career as a walk on and using hard work to get to where he is today. No one wanted him out of high school, he had to beg coaches to give him a shot, he needed to pay to own success but could only do that by paying rent everyday.
Ppl 4get that Joe Flacco won a super bowl.
Is he elite? Is he not elite? Well theres a simple answer to that, he won a Super Bowl. Yep im not kidding, he won the 2013 super bowl against Colin Take A Kneepernick and the San Francisco 49ers. This is just a little known fact that ppl 4get to mention when they talk about Flacco's eliteness.
Ppl 4get that Antonio Gated played basketball in college.
The future hall of famer FOOTBALL player for the San Diego (Los Angeles) Chargers actually played basketball in college at Kent State. This is a fact that fails to get mentioned every Chargers game. Anytime theres a jump ball opportunity i dont know how they dont bring up that Gates literally use start off every game in college with a jump ball. You gotta imagine his basketball background has helped out immensely with his football career. Jimmy Graham also played basketball in college too.
Ppl 4get that Alejandro Villanueva was in the military.
First off I just wanna say "Thank u for your service" to Alejandro. I know youre reading this. But yes, I tell no lies, the Steelers starting left tackle was actually an Army ranger. He served in the military and overseas. In todays society all we talk about is who is kneeling or sitting or standing and i think the real thing that should be discussed is Villanueva's service. Its unreal how much this gets overlooked. It needs to be mentioned everytime he takes the field. The guy is a true American.

Well there you have it folks,,, 7 little known facts about professional athletes that can help you sound a little bit more knowledgeable at your next sporting social gathering. I know there are many more little known facts that i forgot so plz feel free to share them in the comment section.
