Hi everyone, it me Buddy the "Take Boss" Valastro. Lets start by setting the scene for everyone. Its March 12, 2012 in the Bradley Center front office. Bucks GM John Hammond is on the phone with the Golden State Warriors badly wanting to get a deal done in order to reach that ever covenanted 8 seed. A deal is basically done and it involves Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson heading to the Warriors with Epke Udoh and Kwame Brown getting their antlers mounted. (Side note: Kwame was a former #1 overall pick and Udoh was drafted #6 overall so this is already a steal for the Bucks). HOWEVA (stephen a smith voice), the Warriors are offering up one more piece. Larry Riley (not that Larry Riley, shit i thought Pat Riley was Larry Riley and now my brain is in a pretzel, i did once have a baseball coach named Larry Riley tho), Warriors gm at the time, says, "Alright Hammy, we'll throw in one more player but you have the ultimate decision, Monta Ellis or Steph Curry?" Without any hesitation, Hammond responds, "Give me Monta. Because Monta Ellis have it all."
Wooooooooo buddy now before people hop into the comment section saying the Bucks made the wrong decision let me just remind you that Curry has some weak ankles and who knows how long theyre going to hold up. Literally at any moment those ankles could turn into dust, like Jabari's knees, and he'll have to hang up the sneakers.
Lets take a trip down memory lane and look at Steph Hurty's injury history presented by FoxSports.com:
- 11/19/2013 - Concussion
- 2/22/2015 - Sore Right Ankle (hmmmm)
- 12/30/2015 - Bruised Leg
- 4/16/2016 - Sore Ankle (hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
- 4/24/2016 - Sprained Knee Ligament
- 1/27/2017 - Sore Left Quad
- 04/07/2017 Left Knee Contusion
Now lets compare Monta's injury history:
- 3/27/2015 - Sore calf
- 12/11/2016 - Groin strain (congrats on the sex)
- 1/1/2017 - Left ankle sprain
- 1/25/2017 - Sore left ankle
So im not a math guy or a nerd but I do know Curry has had 7 injuries and Monta has had 4 and when it comes to injuries 4 > 7 folks,,,
Yeah Steph might be a 2x NBA MVP, 4x NBA All-Star, 2x all NBA first team, 2x NBA all second team, NBA scoring champion, and arguably greatest shooter of all time. But does that even matter when he is never on a floor? Give me a guy with strong ankles, give me a guy thats durable, give me a guy that have it all, "Give me Monta." -John Hammond.
