Tommy Tuffnuts
Ring the damn sirens! Tommy Tuffnuts is at it again! Who are these Milwaukee Bucks? I was in attendance for the game last night against the Thunder and it was a pretty embarrassing performance by the Jason Kidd led Milwaukee Bucks. I understand it has only been 7 games, but a lot of their problems date back to last year and it all starts with Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd was a hall of fame player, but he is currently a hall of shame (got em) coach. What offensive concept does Coach Cuck promote? Get the Bucks in a half court set and here is what you will see: Dribble around the perimeter and hand the ball off, Run unsuccessful pick and rolls with offensive talent that is not meant to run pick and rolls, Middleton post ups, Moose post ups, Henson holding onto the ball for 10 seconds with his back to the basket 20 feet away from the hoop, dribble handoff to Snell for 3, Middleton iso or just give the ball to Giannis and get out of his way. That's it folks. That is Jason Kidds offense. Lets break down each offesnive concept and talk about why it does not work.
Dribble around the perimeter and hand the ball off
Pretty self explanatory here. Its like the Bucks are running the 3 man weave without moving towards the hoop. Once the shot clock hits 5, who ever has the ball gets to go iso and chuck up a bad shot.
Run unsuccessful pick and rolls with offensive talent that is not meant to run pick and rolls
I do like Malcolm Brogdon, but I do not think he is best suited at running pick and rolls. The same goes for Middleton, Snell and Delly. All four guys are zero threat to take the rock to the hoop and finish at the rim. They lack the explosiveness and quickness to make this happen. The only true threat with the ball in his hands for a pick and roll is Giannis. This is a major reason why I think the Bucks really need Eric Bledsoe. We know by now that Jason Kidd is either too stubborn or stupid to change the way he runs the offense. Bledsoe gives them a dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands to penetrate off a pick and roll and make plays.
Middleton post ups
Getting Middleton in the post against smaller defenders can be very effective. However, when his shot is not falling, this option gets redundant. Yes, you have to make jumpers and yes, Middleton isn't always going to make them. But Kidd will force feed Middleton on nights that he is not hitting his shots and bad things happen.
Moose post ups
These make my head hurt. There is nothing worse than when Giannis has the ball and the entire offense stops to force a pass to Moose in the post. Half the time he gets pushed out to 15 feet from the hoop before the entry pass is even made. Now there is 10 seconds left on the shot clock and Moose daddy goes to work with his slow motion post moves. When Moose does get a solid look at the rim, he loves nothing more than missing bunnies.
Henson's soft ass holding the ball 20 feet away from the hoop with his back to the basket
Why oh Why does Kidd insist on starting the offense with Henson getting the ball 20 feet away from the hoop? He gets pushed around and looks timid every time he touches the ball. Now hes 20 feet away from the hoop and if his defender gets into his body, he cowers over and panics. If his defender sags off of him, he is zero threat to hit a jumper.
Dribble handoff for a Snell 3
This actually does work from time to time. Snell does get an open look when Giannis does the hand off and screen.
Middleton Iso
I like Middleton. I think he is a very good shooter and a very good defender. The issue is that Kidd puts the ball in his hands way to much. Middleton doesn't have the skills to take guys off the dribble. He is not an iso player. He needs to hangout on the perimeter and hit open threes. The issue with that is that the Bucks don't really have a playmaker other than Giannis to penetrate and kick.
Give the ball to Giannis and get out da way
This works. It works alot. But teams will start to run two defenders at him and force him to pass or take a tough shot. The Bucks have the shooters in Snell, Middy and Brogdon to hit open threes. Even Thon can step out and hit open looks. The problem is that you see the Bucks far too many times pass up an open three with a defender closing out hard. They shot fake and try to get into the paint, but like I stated earlier, Snell, Middy and Brogdon are not the type of players to penetrate and finish in traffic at the rim.. Shoot the open threes! All three of those guys are 40% three point shooters. Play to your strengths! Teams want to run them off the three point line and they take the bait far too often.
Lets dabble into Jason Kidds defensive scheme. It is an absolute joke. But Tommy Tuffnuts, they have so much "length!" News flash, the majority of the NBA has length. The majority of NBA players can burn your trapping defense and find the wide open shooter in the corner. Jason Kidd thinks he reinvented the wheel with his defense. It is a high school style defense that doesn't work against NBA talent. If a team has an off shooting night, it may look like its working, but the Bucks give up far too many wide open threes. To top it all off, Sean Sweeney runs the defense and that clown belongs wiping up sweat off the floor during Oshkosh Herd games.
Jason Kidd needs to go. Its really that simple. He gets a pass as a coach because he was a good player and is butt buddies with the owners. Giannis is a once in a lifetime talent to play for the Milwaukee Bucks. Jason Kidd has shown an inability to make adjustments. He keeps running his same clown offense and defense while allowing his clown back row assistant coach to captain the defense
DEAR GIANNIS, PLEASE WALK INTO PRACTICE AND DROP THIS SHIT ON JASON.......
